Here are a couple local charities to help the Lahaina Community
Local relief now...
All our thoughts, prayers and best juju go out to our brothers & sisters in Lahaina, Maui while they deal with this tragedy. We are seeing and hearing the daily news and reports coming out about all the courageous efforts being made there. We are also heeding the call from the locals about how they need boots on-the-ground relief now and that we should also be donating to local Hawaiian charities. Based on what the Lahaina locals are requesting over social media and on the news, here are a couple local charities they say you can donate to:
Hawai'i Community Foundation
Their mission is to inspire generosity, advocate for equity, forge connections and invest in community to create a better Hawai‘i. Everything they do at HCF aims to deliver meaningful impact that will benefit Hawai‘i. They have a 93% 4-Star Rating on Charity Navigator.
Their Maui Strong Fund is providing financial resources that can be deployed quickly, with a focus on rapid response and recovery for the devastating wildfires on Maui. HCF is working in close collaboration with state and county leaders, nonprofit organizations, and community members to get an understanding of the quickly evolving priorities. Funding will support evolving needs, including shelter, food, financial assistance, and other services as identified by their partners doing critical work on Maui.
