Te Rerenga Wairua (Cape Reinga) means the "leaping-off place of spirits" and is the most spiritually significant place in New Zealand for the Māori. It is the place where two oceans collide and where the spirits of the dead enter the underworld. It takes a while to get out there because it is located on the northwesternmost tip of the Aupouri Peninsula. You'll know when your are there by the ancient Pohutukawa Tree and the lonely lighthouse marking the spot. Talk about the most stunning of vistas and you do really get to see those oceans bash against each other. This piece has a nice, understated look to it, but it feels organic to the region. The color of the Dyed Pottery Stones represents the tip of the cape where the two oceans do come together. The Puka Shell reminds you of the rough, sandy beach down below the lighthouse. The Bone Mala Skull is there to remind you of the spirituality of this place. Be well and look forward.
