The El Camino de Santiago is one of those human experiences that should not be missed in life. It is known in English as the Way of St. James and is a network of pilgrimages thru France, Portugal and Spain leading to the shrine of the Apostle Saint James located in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in northwestern Spain. The tradition holds that the remains of the apostle are buried there. Besides all that cool stuff, it has become a personal, spiritual and cultural pilgrimage that is over 500 miles long and can take over 30+ days depending on how long and fast your stride is. You also earn your blisters. Check out the many books, documentaries and many films for inspiration (I'll Push You by Chris Karcher/Terry Parish and The Way by Emilio Estevez to name a couple). I made this piece to be a companion that you can take on this pilgramage regardless of your religion. It is a Wrist Rosary because it is made with 59 Beads that represent the five decades so you can actually use it on your journey. The Bone Mala Skull represents your connection to God and/or to humanity and a Vintage Scalloped Shell Pendant is included as the symbol of El Camino---all paths lead here. Obviously, the Rosary is a Catholic symbol, but I also made it with an old-world flavor to represent the long heritage of the pilgramage so you can sport it with or without the religious significance. Either way, go experience it for yourself and bring this little companion with you. Buen Camino Peregrinos...
