We all know that tiny little island with the isolated white stone house either from photos or luckily going by in in a boat. None of us have been on the island, but can only romanticize about what life would be like on such a lonely place. Elliðaey is a small island south of Iceland and is the most northeastern of the Vestmannaeyjar (an archipelago consisting of 15 to 18 islands and other smaller rocks). The house is actually a hunting lodge but there isn't really any wildlife on the island except some Puffins. It was probably just an excuse to build something so someone could REALLY get away from civilization. But what a place to spend some alone time eh? This piece uses Black Pyrite and Black Lava Rock to give you the look and feel of the dark stone cliffs that surround the island. The Magnesite Stone represents the out-of-place hunting lodge and the Coconut Wood and Yak Bone resemble some of the other textures and colors of the island. The Bone Mala Skull is there to remind you of the lonely soul who resides on the rock. I don't know about you, but it looks like a fun place to explore for a week or so...as long as you bring along some whiskey or Icelandic vodka to keep you company on those dark and stormy nights. Keep the fire burning...
