Isla del Pescado is a hilly little rocky outcrop of land in the middle of Salar de Uyuni (salt flat) in Bolivia....and yes, it's in the middle of somewhere Bolivia. It's called Isla del Pescado or "Island of The fish" because the locals say it looks like a fish when seeing it from a distance. On top of that rocky outcrop are tons of cacti that look like a bunch of fuzzy people standing at attention. If it wasn't for the isolated large town of Uyuni that services the salt flats, you probably wouldn't venture out to see it. BTW, do check out the train cemetery in Uyuni because they look like something out of a Sergio Leonne movie. However, it's those little things in nature that we find by accident that we always remember eh? This bracelet was made with the Isla del Pescado in mind...particularly the green fuzzy soldiers standing guard on top. I found these lime green vintage bead pillow ball beads years and years ago and thought they were perfect to represent the color and texture of the island’s cactus. The Carved Water Buffalo Beads have a look of the salt flat and the Yak Horn give the bracelet a nice organic pop, The Brown Water Buffalo Beads does add needed earthiness of this piece. The Bone Mala Skull represents your journey in getting to such a distant place as Isla del Pescado. Head out to the salt flats and see if you can see the fish. Go fish!
