This is one of my favorite bracelets---it just looks clean & cool! This piece was inspired by Klugsleden Hiking Trail (known as the King’s Trail) in northern Sweden and runs between Abisko in the north and Hemavan in the south. It is a 290 mile journey compromising trekking, lake crossings and road travel. The trail passes through the Vindelfjällen Nature Reserve which is one of the largest protected areas in all of Europe. If you’re bold enough, you can ski some of the same routes during Winter. This trail is well-marked, has lots of different types of terrain and ascends to a high point of 3,770 feet at the Tjäktja Pass. As you come to the lakes, you can choose to use one of the provided row boats or take a relaxing charter boat across to continue your journey. It’s great for tent camping or you can use one of the huts dotted along the trail for a fee. What blows you away are all the shades of green or brown depending on when you are there. There’s a certain, unique muted forest/mint green color that pops out every now and then. Parts of the area look like the Scottish Highlands, the Peak District in the UK or the Faroe Islands. It’s hard to keep your eyes down on the trial with all the sights you are beholding…lots of toe jams. You will also have lots of chances to encounter elk, moose, wolves, bears, lynx, wolverines and bucketloads of lemmings. Seriously, there is a reason why this place is called the King’s Tail---it is grand and at times treacherous. If you took this bracelet and held it up at the trailhead’s entrance, you would definitely get the connection. The Large Amazonite Stone and Kiwi Jasper have that green hue color I mentioned above. The Black Lava Stone gives you the feel of some of those jagged mountains and the Carved Water Buffalo Bone, Coconut Wood and Yak Bone give it its organic feel. I added an Antique Norwegian Metal Button to tie in the wildlife and camping (check out the tent on the button). So go grab a compass, bring along this bracelet to break it in and head out to one of the best hiking experiences you’ll ever get. Skål!
