Minicoy is a gorgeous little island off the southwestern tip of India in the Lakshadweep Territory and is located is the vast expanse of the Arabian Sea. Minicoy (known as Maliku by the locals), means Women's Island by the ancient locals. The island is part of an atoll with a beautiful lagoon, white sandy beaches, a vibrant reef full of marine life and is almost completely covered with coconut trees. There are 11 villages on the island and one of the few landmarks is a 300-foot-tall lighthouse built in 1855. There is a ton of religious and colonial history dating back about 80 years so it’s worth looking up before you head out. When you first see Minicoy from the air, it does take your breath away. It's a place that more locals flock to, but if you want to get out to a place that's not on the radar…then this is it. There's not much to do on the island unless you want to enjoy the sun and water (hello!) and or if you want to enjoy a little resort living. However, Minicoy does have the appeal of just being out there in the middle of the ocean. This bracelet definitely has the look and feel of this place. Even looking at this bracelet will take your mind straight to Minicoy or to any tropical island. It really pops on the wrist and has an exotic feel to it. The Recycled Glass resembles the color of the lagoon surrounded by the reef. The Large Carved Water Buffalo Bone Bead and Carved Yak Horn give it its local Indian flavor. The Bone Mala Skull is there to remind you of the peace you feel while you are there. It's always important to seek that feeling. Minicoy will help provide the setting and this bracelet will help provide the style.
