I found an old metal bracelet in a costume shop from back in the 1980's that looked to be on its last leg and thought “I could give that a kick and revive it back to its old glory.” The original piece was one of those typical mass-produced metal bracelets that you saw punkers or metal heads sportin' back in the day. They weren't as beefy and as tough as I remembered (yes there is some personal history going back on this) which was kinda disappointing. Back in the late 1970's - 1980's, the center of punk was in New York and in London---particularly in Piccadilly Circus. If you have ever been to Piccadilly, especially at night, it is alive and kickin'. The sights, the sounds and the bright lights can bring together some colorful characters from all over. The Circus back then was a favorite hang-out for the punk scene which is how this 'new and improved’ bracelet got its name. It's also a homage to the ones who wanted it different and who wanted to buck the system. I took the Squared Hexagon-Type Nickel Silver Beads and added some Stainless-Steel Nuts to give it more "oi" and weight. I added some Black Water Buffalo Bone Beads to give it a slight grittiness (black was THE color back then) and added a Hand-Painted Union Jack Ceramic Bead (actually from there) to give it that London spice. The HUGE Bone Mala Skull is there just for the attitude it gives off. It's why that scene was so cool...and still is in some pockets. This bracelet feels great on the wrist and does put out that real vintage punk attitude and vibe. So as you stroll down one of those cobbled London Streets to get to The Circus (literally or just in your head), don't forget to flash this piece to the ones that pass you by.
