Many have not heard of this far away place in the South Pacific, but oh what history does it behold. Pitcairn Island one of the smallest and most remote inhabited places in the world. If you know the story of Mutiny on The Bounty, Pitcairn is the final resting place of the journey.  It is the story of the real-life mutiny led by Fletcher Christian against William Bligh, Captain of HMAV Bounty in 1789.  After Christian took The Bounty, he led the remaining mutineers and accompanying Tahitians to a remote inhabited island to escape British Law. The seamanship to get there in itself was miraculous and henceforth Pitcairn Island became inhabited.  There are still descendants of Christian and his crew on the island to this day. It's a fascinating story and the island itself is a slice of paradise. Pitcairn is a rugged island that just shoots up from the ocean and is surrounded by deep, clear blue waters. This piece is inspired by the story and by this remote island. It's made with Kukui Nuts that are revered by the Polynesian Culture, Recycled Glass that are the colors of the surrounding waters and Carved Yak Bone which add the island flava. There are two Bone Skulls to represent Christian and Bligh and a turn of the century - WW1 Era Royal Navy button ties into the history of everything. Read the 1932 novel by Charles Nordhoff and James Norman Hall based on the true accounts or check out one of the many movies made throughout the years. Put Pitcairn on your list if you love those out-of-the-way places. Supposedly there's a make-shift tavern on the island where you can get a shot of tequila served in the hollow of a whale's tooth. Doing that shot while sporting this bracelet would be a bucket list thing eh?
