There's little historic port town called Portobelo on the northern Isthmus of Panama, about 20 miles from the bigger port town of Colon on the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal, that feels like you stepped back a century. It was established in 1597 by the Spanish for it's deep harbor and ideal location. It currently has a small community and is mainly known now for Fort San Lorenzo which is on the World Heritage in Danger Sites. The area is kinda in disrepair, but the port offers a picturesque setting for photography and exploring. Ya got water on one side of ya and dense jungle on the other. This bracelet has a look and feel of the place. The Brown Picture Jasper has a look of the stone and cement walls of the port seawall and fort. The color of the Red River Jasper is the same as some of the village rooftops and some of the small boats parked in the harbor. The Sea Urchin Spines are very unique and look like the cannons that still protrude out of Fort San Lorenzo to this day. I know, it's kind of a stretch, but that's what it reminds me of. Plus, Sea Urchins are very prevalent in the area. The Bone Mala Skull with the Keyhole Limpet Shell "Hat" is a reminder that it is dang hot down in that area so stay vigilant. This piece looks really good on the wrist and definitely will turn some heads with those spines. It's a statement piece for sure and the right bearer will come along to grab it. Is it you?
