While making this piece, I was thinking of a drive along the coastline during the Fall in any one of the many Scandinavian countries---quite fun and quite peaceful. There's something quite relaxing as a driver or as a passenger just looking out that window regardless if it's a gray or sunny day in that region. Wouldn't feel the same during a big storm, but just picturing it feels exhilarating eh? The colors and textures while passing by the subdued sea waters with the rocky coastline, long bridges and densely wooded forests add a certain uniformity to the journey. It's also amazing to see some of the things that wash up on shore from time to time and I often wonder where those things have journeyed from. However, if you are just standing at water's edge and looking around anywhere there, you feel insignificant in a good way. It's hard to explain. Calmness maybe? Now to this piece. It's made with Spiderweb Jasper and River Rock that is reflective of those rocky coastlines. Throw in some Palm Wood and some Carved & Smooth Yak Bone and you start getting some earthy texture that gives a little bit of a Scandinavian feel. The Dried Heather Root (dug from my garden) resembles either a large log or a plank from one of those long wooden ships that has washed up on shore. The Bone Mala Skull is there to remind you of the calmness you feel while gazing out to the sea.
