Carmel Beach in Northern California is ideal for those long, slow waves that just slide up onto the shoreline so you can make that long run with your board into the sea. In the old days, skim boards were made of sanded plywood that were painted and car wax was piled on and rubbed in to keep the boards slightly smooth enough to keep them on top of the water. If you were lucky, the skim took you into the sea so you could catch a small barrel. Carmel Beach can be overrun with locals and tourists and the traffic just getting there can be a beast...but it's so worth it when you finally walk down the dunes onto the flats. Yeah, the water is dark and cold which does turn your feet blue...but oh what a magical spot of water. This bracelet is dedicated to those souls that got there and carved their names into the sand, especially on those chilly foggy days. This piece has Recycled Sea Glass to represent the sea, an African Recycled Paper Bead (which is finished and coated) resembles the old school skim boards back and the Carved Yak Bone looks like the lines carved in the sand. There are 2 Bone Mala Skulls added to remind you of the good times hitting that beach with friends. Check Carmel Beach out and don't forget to pay homage to the old ones who came before. Cowabunga!
