The Bering Sea conjures up all kinds of things in the mind---exploration, fishing and the 'Deadliest Catch, dramatic weather and the struggle between nature and man. It is a marginal sea of the Northern Pacific Ocean. It forms, along with the Bering Strait, the divide between Eurasia and the Americas. This bracelet was made to represent the color and texture of those rough seas, man and his boats along with the history made there by the explorer who bears its name, Vitus Bering. The Carved Yak Bone remind of us of the spiritual aspect of those waters and coastlines (reminds me of scrimshaw). I also included an Antique Anchor Button made in England and 2 Bone Mala Skulls as a shout-out to the maritime history and hardship man faces there. Just another drop in the ocean.
