The Royal Hawaiian Hotel is THE iconic hotel of the South Pacific. It is located smack dab in the middle of Waikiki, Honolulu and has been in pop culture since it was first built in 1927.  Since then, the 400 room "Pink Palace" or "Pink Hotel" has been a staple for locals, wealthy tourists and for servicemen in WW2.  It's a member of Historic Hotels of America and up to the early 1960's, there were no high-rises competing with it. It's an icon and famous for its Spanish & Moorish stucco facade, it's stretch of white sand on Waikiki Beach and for The Royal Hawaiian Bar. BTW, this bar was the first bar in Hawaii to serve the famous Mai Tai Cocktail. This Tiki-lit bar is probably the best joint to see Waikiki at night and their Luaus on the property are quite the experience. Sometimes you can get lucky to hear some of the local music playing next door. I know it's just a hotel, but it is a big part of Hawaiian history and part of the landscape. That history and it's cultural status inspired the making of this bracelet. I used XLarge Raw & Pink Dyed Hawaiian Puka Shell and an XLarge Keyhole Limpet Shell to reflect the hotel's colors and connection to the sea. The Coconut Wood represents the palm trees strew throughout the property and the Carved Yak Bone adds a tribal feel to the piece. A Bone Mala Skull has also been added to represent the luck you have in getting to enjoy such a place. I love the look and feel of this chunky bracelet and it has a very authentic Hawaiian feel to it. If you get a chance to go to Hawaii, make sure you try and spend at least one night here---it's something you will cherish forever. Don't forget to have one of those Mai Tai's...it will taste and even look better sporting this on your wrist. Aloha Baby!
