I don't know what it is, but I love Kukui Nut Bracelets and Leis---they totally give off the island vibe. Over the years, they got the reputation as being touristy items that you could buy at the Five & Dime Store or were also often given out for ceremonial purposes instead of traditional floral leis. For those of us who know, Kukui Nuts have a reverence in many Polynesian cultures and are as island as it comes. Besides the adornment side of things, they have a therapeutic feel to them like ancient prayer beads. Whatever it is, I love them and want to bring them back to their old glory. They just needed some attention and some Ka Pow added to the mix. ry This Kukui Nut Bracelet has a look and feel of Tonga. The Kingdom of Tonga stretches over 500 miles and is made up of 171 islands in which 45 are uninhabited. It was settled about 2,500 years ago by the ancient Polynesians and has a vedistinct culture and strong identity. It's known for its over-friendly people, amazing beaches and lush island inland life. BTW, can you ever be over-friendly? This bracelet looks like an old local piece that was made from things found on the forest floor or on the beach. It's made with Kukui Nuts, Yak Bone, Crocodile Wood, Wood and a Keyhole Limpet Shell. The Bone Mala Skull is a shout-out to the friendly people of Tonga. It's a very light piece, but has boldness---it just looks the business. Go check out one of the many islands of Tonga because they are often overlooked. Many consider it to be the real South Seas.
