Valle de la Luna (Valley of the Moon) is is the Atacama Deert (8-10 miles west of San Pedro de Atacama) in northern Chile. What a site to behold. It's various red rock formations have been carved by wind and water and looks like a place on the surface of Mars. There are lots of dried-up salt lakes that have these unique saline outcrops which appear like man-made sculptures. I could go on and on...but what an out-of-the-way place to experience...especially at sunrise and sunset which showcase its red and purple hues. When I found these Red River Jasper Beads, I automatically thought of those red rock formations. I added some Gray Map Jasper that also add to the texture of this piece. The Carved Yak Bone add some local tribal flavor and the Smooth Yak Bone and Coconut Wood tone it down to an organic feel. The Bone Mala Skull and Vintage Delta Airline Uniform Button (rare) are there to remind you to jump on a silver bird to go visit that amazing place. You'll probably need a couple of planes to get there...unless you are one of the lucky locals. Don't forget to down one of those delicious Pisco Sours when ya land!
